We are located in the heart of Castiglione della Pescaia, overlooking the splendid sea of the Tuscan
Maremma, just a few steps from the town center.
With the 5 sails of Legambiente and the Blue Flag of Europe, Castiglione della Pescaia, only 22 km from the city of Grosseto, is recognized as one of the main tourist destinations of the Touring Club.
Surrounded by uncontaminated nature, it is also located a few kilometers from sites of historical and naturalistic interest: museums, necropolis, picturesque medieval villages and naturalistic oasis. A territory energized, especially in summer, by interesting initiatives.
The characteristic port of the town, which hosts a small local market every day, is the starting point for interesting boat trips to the islands of the Tuscan archipelago: Elba, Giglio, Giannutri.
A territory to discover that we are always happy to introduce to our guests, giving them directions and advice on places to visit.
Among the most famous beaches of the Tuscan Maremma, Cala Violina (14 minutes by car) is certainly one of the most fascinating. Surrounded by lush mediterranean vegetation, its real peculiarity is represented by the sand, fine quartz grains, if stepped on, emits a sound reminiscent of the strings of a violin. From here takes its name the beach itself. Reachable on foot, through a path of about 20 minutes, Cala Violina is located within the Natural Reserve of Bandite of Scarlino. Equally fascinating are the beaches of Punta Ala (19 minutes by car) and Rocchette (12 minutes by car) represent a real immersion in uncontaminated environments with suggestive and poetic views.
Between Castiglione della Pescaia and Grosseto, close to the pinewood and the beach, there is the Diaccia Botrona (8 minutes on foot from the B&B), a marshy area that for centuries has played an important role in the history of the territory. The natural reserve offers breathtaking landscapes and has a rare ecosystem that hosts an incredible variety of living microorganisms, both plants and animals. Famous for birdwatching, it offers unique sunsets, an incomparable show of colors between water and sky. A few kilometers from Castiglione, between the plain of Alberese and the sea, is the Parco dell’Uccellina (60 minutes by car). A natural reserve considered a protected area by the WWF, famous for its remarkable landscape value: it offers panoramas of flourishing vegetation, wide uncontaminated beaches and, with a little luck, the possibility of encountering animal species typical of our area: wild boar, roe deer, maremmana cows and horses in the wild.
The Tarot Garden (60 minutes by car) is a beautiful art park located in Garavicchio, near Pescia Fiorentina, a hinterland of Capalbio (GR). Conceived by the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle, populated with statues inspired by the figures of the major arcanes of the tarot. By the artist’s will, in the Tarot Garden there are no guided tours to leave to the interpretation of the visitors, it is therefore possible to buy the ticket online or directly on site and, after the visit to the garden, enjoy the seascapes and natural landscapes that the surrounding area offers.
Fattoria Le Mortelle (11 minutes by car), a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, is situated in an extraordinary and fascinating position, both for its nature and for the history of the places which surround
it. Since 1999, the Antinori family, worked on the vineyards and on the new winery, with the conviction that the area, still emerging in the Italian wine scene, is highly suited for the production of quality wines.
The winery, on the top of the slight hill which overlooks the estate, mostly underground, was built using natural materials, by exploiting the thermoregulation of the rocks present deep in the soil.
The history of Maremma is the history of everyone: Etruscan traces, medieval castles, seventeenth-century fortresses and ancient villages. Populonia, part of the municipality of Piombino, is a goldmine of ancient treasures. A small medieval village of the ‘400, on the hill overlooking the beach of Baratti. The village is dominated by the massive Fortress and is divided along four narrow streets, also houses a small archaeological museum. Sorano and Pitigliano are located in the south-eastern part of the province of Grosseto, the Tuff Area. Two small villages perched on a tufaceous cliff, surrounded by pristine forests retain the typical medieval structure with the particularity of homes carved into the tuff. Just outside the village of Sorano are the Hollow Ways, deep corridors carved into the rocks. Even closer, as the crow flies, to Castiglione is the village of Tirli, climbed on a hill and surrounded by forests of oak and chestnut trees. The small town has medieval origins and is built in stone, according to ancient urban traditions.
